Digital Income Ideas: How to make Money to Travel
I am a travel addict, and so are many people who read my blog. Some of you may be holiday travellers, others take epic journeys every year, while still others are still trying to navigate their way through their first vacation, especially if it means taking little ones.
October marked a shift in my life, where I left my full-time job to follow my passions in life. You can read more about that here: What Carpe Diem OUR Way means to me! One of those passions, obviously, is travel. But travel is not free. Neither is having a mortgage, day care bills and the costs of life. I am not a web designer, nor a graphic designer, nor a SEO expert. So I need to get creative when it comes to creating a location independent lifestyle.
Here are 5 ways that I am working towards the Digital Nomad Lifestyle
Freelance writing can pay the bills, but do not expect to get rich quick. I currently write for small publications paying between USD20-USD100 per post. It depends if it is for print, or for online and it depends on the publication. But I can write most of these posts from anywhere in the world. This is a good thing and something I will continue to do.

Purging for Travel
I wrote a post last year about purging for travel, and I still do this often. It is a good way to make a few hundred dollars and it is amazing how much stuff we really do end up with. Now if you want to be nomadic, there is a lot more to purge, and a lot more money to make, but for the average traveller, a few hundred dollars of extra spending money can go a long way on vacation.
Want to visit London? With a digital lifestyle, you can!
Save, Save, Save
Do you really need that pizza, or how about watching something on Netflix instead of hitting the theatre. There are ample ways to trim our spending to allow us to travel more. Now that I have quit my job, minimizing this type of spending is very important. Yes, we want a life, but it comes down to what you want more. And for me, it is travel. Every time! So we microwave some popcorn, pull a frozen pizza from the freezer, and stay home for a cozy movie night instead of spending over $100 to go out.
Well life DOES cost money. So why not get a little extra when you are spending money. There are a few credit cards that can do that for you. Christi, our associate writer, wrote a great post on making those rewards points count. If you found this page helpful, i would love it if you would pin, share or tweet it on whatever social media platforms you use! Every little bit will help us fund our travels and continue to bring great content to our site!
