My boys were ready for adventure. After months at home, probably the longest stretch of sleeping in their own beds for years, we had booked three nights in Whistler for a multi-generational weekend getaway with my mum! Where we were going to explore was everything that British Columbia has to offer! Whistler was first up and it did not disappoint!
We arrived at Cougar Mountain base camp, excited for some time in the forest. A quick waiver was signed, as well as a temperature check and health questions. We knew masks were required so we packed our own, but for guests arriving without masks, they do have them available.
The kids Treetop Adventure Course is different than any other ropes course we had done in the past. It has two daily departure times and guides help and encourages the kids along the way as needed. There is a definite technical ability required to manage the C clamps and that is the main reason that their minimum age is 7. My youngest had a hard time with the mechanics and the mental on off on off pattern of moving throughout the course. But my 9 year old picked it up quickly and sailed through the course!
The boys thoroughly loved it saying it was their new favorite thing to do in Whistler for kids! They both said the ziplines were their favorite. I really liked watching the challenge of the coordination and watching them face their fears and leap off the platforms onto the zip lines. I could see the fear and determination in their eyes and their smiles at the end of the course showed me that this was the perfect activity to get their adrenaline pumping in a safe and age-appropriate way!
While I watched the zip liners overhead I was a little jealous that they were having all of the fun, but those smiles and seeing them crush it was well worth it (and I am sure I will get my chance to zip line sooner or later!)
How to get to Whistler TreeTop Adventures:
The TreeTop ropes course is located on Cougar Mountain and is just off the highway (it looks like a forest service road, you are in the right place!). Type Cougar Mountain into your GPS and it is just 10 minutes by car north of Whistler. There is parking available on site.
Requirements for the Treetop Adventures Kids Course:
- 7 – 13 years old
- Ability to reach 4’7″ high with hand (no actual height requirement)
- Close-toed shoes (like running shoes)
- Comfortable clothing
- Hair tie for long hair

- Sunscreen and Bug Spray (The course is mostly shaded, we needed the bug spray!)
