Ideal Family Accommodation in Auckland: AirBNB at Buckland’s Beach
Accommodation in New Zealand can become very expensive, especially if you travel with a family. Our ideal accommodation has space, a bedroom and some type of cooking facilities (or at least a fridge and a kettle). This lends itself very well to AirBNB options, which also happen to be priced lower than many motels! If you are new to the idea of staying in people’s homes, have a read of the differences between AirBNB and VRBO and decide what is right for you!
Right in the heart of Bucklands Beach in Auckland, is this Buckland’s Beach Beauty!
Two spacious bedrooms, a large living area and kitchen and a patio just scratch the surface of this accommodation. It is a ground floor unit in a house, owned by Judy and Tony, who live upstairs. It has its own private entrance and you will feel as though you have the place to yourself. Charlie, their adorable sheltie lives there and loves guests. My boys, who are timid with animals fell in love with her.

The kitchen is stocked with everything you could need for breakfast: bread, cereals, milk, fresh fruit, yogurt and butter!
On top of the basics, there is a hot tub, laundry facilities and an outdoor play structure for the kids. Judy and Tony will also likely show you the garage that has plenty of toys for the kids as well. They are lovely hosts, very friendly and although they do live upstairs, the design of the unit makes you feel as if you are there alone.
The rooms are immaculate and modern my furnished with a double bed in each room. There is free wifi and satellite TV at this Auckland AirBNB.
There is gated parking at the home ( which also makes it great for kids playing outside), grocery stores and restaurants nearby. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the beach, where you can find an ice cream shop, small store and restaurants. It is a quiet neighbourhood away from the downtown of Auckland.

The patio has a hot tub ( with a roll out shade cover ) and a table and chairs to enjoy the backyard
Because of its location, this AirBNB is best accessed with a vehicle, but there are bus routes nearby.… The entrance and the gate is coded so you can arrive at your convenience and kiwi breakfast ( toast, butter, jams, cereal, milk and coffee and fruit) is waiting for you.
Here is a great North Island Itinerary from Discover Aoteraoa (if you didn’t know, Aoteraoa is maori for New Zealand)
Charlie, their dog is absolutely adorable and will love to show you around. If you are not a Dog person there are gates to keep her off your deck. We welcomed her, and my kids loved her ( and they do not like dogs ). She was calm and friendly and mostly followed us around.
It is a short walk downhill to the beach where you can find Ice cream and a small store, and a restaurant.
Although Judy and Tony live upstairs, the unit is completely private and comfortable! It is big enough for two couple travelling New Zealand or a family of 4.

If you want to contact Judy to book this AirBNB you can click the link here. We only had two nights here, but wished we could stay longer. It was perfect for me because I could work and the kids had plenty of room to play outside, watch TV, and had Charlie following around them around as great entertainment! I Highly recommend it for anyone who is road tripping New Zealand and wants a neighbourhood feel instead of the downtown vibe!
