Tropical Kid-Free Getaways from Vancouver

2023-12-17 by Lindsay Nieminen

Vancouver is well-connected to various destinations in North America, making it convenient for quick kid-free getaways. When leaving kids at home, especially young ones, an easy flight, and a quick trip is part of the planning. Below, I have put together some of my favorite quick kid-free getaways to help you with planning out the basic details.

Los Cabos, Mexico

A short flight from Vancouver has you in paradise. Dozens of hotel options for all budgets are available on the beach. Whether it’s a luxury getaway at the adults only Le Blanc Spa Resort or a budget-friendly all-inclusive like Riu Palace, there is something for everyone. Enjoy day trips to San Jose del Cabo, wander the streets of Cabo San Lucas, or rent a car and experience authentic Mexico in nearby La Paz. Flying into Los Cabos can easily be done on a long weekend for those short on time or spend a week enjoying the warm weather.

Honolulu, Hawaii USA

A favorite for Vancouverites for decades, Hololulu awaits. While this destination also ticks the boxes for a great family holiday, it is a perfect nonstop flight for a kid-free getaway. Rent a car and explore the beaches all around the island, enjoy an evening with good food and drinks, and get some sunlazing on the beach. Hawaii is perfect for those who are not looking for any culture shock. All of the American conveniences (including shopping at Target) are available on Oahu.

Cancun, Mexico

If you’re looking for a beach destination, Cancun on the Yucatan Peninsula is a popular choice. Nonstop flights from Vancouver to Cancun make it easy to enjoy the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, relax on white sandy beaches, and explore nearby Mayan ruins. Cancun is a bit of a longer flight than flying to Los Cabos, but the beaches and exploring the Yucatan region make up for it!

Los Angeles, California

For those who want to stay quite close to home but enjoy the beaches nearby, flying into LAX is perfect. You can choose to use Uber to get around or grab a rental car from the airport!

Los Angeles offers a diverse array of stunning beaches that cater to the preferences of adults seeking a memorable vacation experience. One such destination is Santa Monica Beach, renowned for its iconic pier, vibrant atmosphere, and a wide sandy shoreline perfect for sunbathing or leisurely strolls.

For those seeking a more sophisticated ambiance, Malibu’s Zuma Beach is an ideal choice, known for its pristine beauty, expansive coastline, and the opportunity to indulge in upscale beachfront dining. Venice Beach, with its eclectic boardwalk, street performers, and trendy boutiques, provides a lively atmosphere for adults looking to mix leisure with entertainment.

Meanwhile, Manhattan Beach offers a more laid-back setting, characterized by upscale shops, upscale dining, and a charming coastal vibe.

Nadi, Fiji

This one is arguably my favorite, and if you know anything about me, I love tropical vibes. Fiji Airways has a nonstop from Vancouver on Mondays and Fridays. What I love about it is that it is overnight and arrives in the morning (2 days later). The flight is 12 hours, so a long one, but one of the easiest flights I have done. On the way home, it also leaves in the evening and arrives back in Vancouver at a decent time. Get yourself a good neck pillow and get some shuteye before you arrive in paradise!

A kid-free getaway means that adults can immerse themselves in the luxurious offerings of Fiji’s world-class resorts, many of which feature overwater bungalows or private villas with stunning ocean views. Beyond the luxurious accommodations, Fiji offers plenty of things to do: including scuba diving amidst vibrant coral reefs, indulging in spa treatments with traditional Fijian techniques, and some adrenaline-pumping activities like ATVs and jetboating. The genuine warmth of the Fijian people and the laid-back island culture contribute to a stress-free environment, making Fiji an ideal destination for adults seeking both tranquility and adventure in a breathtaking tropical setting
