Best Hotels in Amman for Families

2026-04-01 by Lindsay Nieminen

Amman is one of those cities that surprises families in the best way. It is somewhere I have visited many times and have stayed in all kinds of accommodations with my kids. Amman is safe, welcoming, and full of kid-friendly experiences like the Citadel, the Roman Theater, food tours, cooking classes, and parks where you can find local families.

But choosing where to stay matters. Amman is a huge city with hundreds of hotels all around the city. Things are spread out, traffic can be intense, and not every hotel is designed with families in mind. The best family hotels in Amman offer what parents actually need: rooms that sleep four (or more), pools for downtime, and locations that make sightseeing easier since your time in Amman is likely limited.

Below are the best hotels in Amman for families, including luxury resorts, midrange hotels, and a few solid options closer to downtown Amman.

Best Luxury Hotels in Amman for Families

Amman’s luxury hotels are excellent for families. They typically offer larger rooms, great breakfast spreads, and pools that are perfect after a day of exploring.

InterContinental Amman (Jordan)

InterContinental Amman is usually my first suggestion to families because of its location. The Intercontinental name also brings a certain level of service. The outdoor pool area is very nice, and there are indoor amenities like a hot tub (which is nice in the winter months). It is a 10-minute walk to the entrance of Rainbow Street, offering great access to Rainbow Street and the Old downtown. Choose a room type like the premium family room. When I am in Amman with my (now) teenagers, we choose this hotel because my kids can have some freedom to walk to Rainbow Street.

Why families love it: Central location, dependable service, and family-friendly room options.
Pool factor: A major plus for kids.
Best for: Families who want a traditional hotel experience in a great location.

Fairmont Amman

Fairmont Amman is available for those who love the Fairmont brand. They offer their Fairmont Gold floor, which has breakfast, tea, evening canapes, and private check-in and check-out. Fairmont has rooms with two queen beds and has connecting rooms for families. One thing to note when booking is that most hotels in Jordan still allow smoking so make sure to book non-smoking rooms.

Why families love it: Large rooms and suites, excellent breakfast, and access to Fairmont Gold amenities
Pool factor: Outdoor pool that is great for downtime and relaxing between sightseeing. Note that the pool is closed in the winter.
Best for: Families who want luxury without feeling overly formal.

Four Seasons Hotel Amman

If you want the most polished family stay in the city, Four Seasons is hard to beat. It’s brand is loved for outstanding service, and it’s the kind of hotel where staff genuinely go out of their way to make traveling with kids easier.

Why families love it: Spacious rooms, top-tier service, and a beautiful pool area.
Good to know: This is one of the best options for families who want comfort and convenience without compromise.
Best for: Luxury travelers, special occasions, and parents who want a stress-free stay.

These hotels tend to offer the best balance of comfort and value—especially for families who need more space but don’t want to spend luxury prices.

Landmark Amman Hotel

Landmark is a good option for families who want a comfortable stay without paying luxury prices. It’s also a convenient base if you plan to explore both modern Amman and the historic downtown area. They have a great outdoor pool and a large buffet for breakfast! Landmark Amman is also one of the few locally owned high-end hotels in Amman, which appeals to those who want to make sure as many of their dollars stay in Jordan as possible.

Why families love it: Larger hotel setup, great pool, and good value for families.

Radisson Blu

This one is perfect if you want to be close to the highway out of town towards Petra, the Dead Sea or the Airport. What you give up with that, is close access to downtown.

Perfect for: Families of 4+ who want to be closer to the airport on arrival or departure
Best for: Last night in Jordan before an early morning flight

Best Family Hotels Near Downtown Amman (Old City)

Downtown Amman (near the Citadel and Roman Theater) is one of the most fascinating parts of the city—but it’s not where most of the big hotels are. That said, staying near downtown is ideal if you want to be close to historic sites and experience a more local side of Amman.

Layaali Amman Hotel

If you want to stay closer to the heart of downtown Amman, this is a good budget-friendly option. It’s especially appealing for families who care more about location and walkability than luxury facilities.

Why families love it: Convenient downtown location and good value.
Best for: Families who want to explore downtown on foot.
Good to know: This is more of a practical stay than a resort-style hotel.

Thousand Nights Hotel Amman

Thousand Nights is another budget-friendly option that works well for families looking for a simple, affordable place to stay. It’s a good fit if you’re spending most of your time sightseeing and only need a clean, comfortable base.

Why families love it: Affordable pricing and family-friendly room options.
Best for: Families on a budget or short stays in the city.
Location note: Convenient for exploring key areas of Amman.

Quick Tips for Choosing a Family Hotel in Amman

If you’re trying to narrow it down quickly, here’s the easiest way to choose:

  • Want the best overall luxury stay? Choose Four Seasons or Fairmont Amman
  • Want a central hotel with a pool and classic comfort? Choose InterContinental Amman
  • Need a suite-style space for a family of four? Choose The House Boutique Suites
  • Want a great-value hotel with an indoor pool? Choose Toledo Hotel
  • Want to stay closer to the historic downtown area? Choose Layaali Amman Hotel

The best place to stay in Amman depends on what kind of trip you’re planning and how much time you plan on spending in the city. Families who want comfort, pools, and a relaxing home base usually prefer the Abdoun / Zahran / 5th Circle area, where most of Amman’s best hotels are located.

But if you want to experience Amman’s culture up close, with access to the old downtown on foot, staying closer to downtown Amman (like at the Intercontinental) can be a great choice too.

No matter where you stay, Amman is a city that families tend to fall in love with. It’s friendly, fascinating, and the perfect starting point for exploring the rest of Jordan.

Must-do Activities in Amman with Kids

While you’re thinking about where to stay in Amman with kids, here are some of my family’s favorite things to do.

  • Take a taxi to the top of the Amman Citadel, where the kids can run around and explore the ruins. Then walk down the stairs to the Roman Theatre
  • Take a food tour with Amman Food Tours
  • Book a cooking class at the Jordanian Kitchen
  • Eat at Hashem Restaurant
  • A real local experience is the go-karts by Sports City. It is a local park with electric go-karts that is great for kids until about age 8.
